Teaching and Learning Conference 2007

Monday, April 23, 2007
7:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.

McNamara Alumni Center
University of Minnesota

Come join us for a special one-day conference on enhancing student learning through research and practice, where we can celebrate and share our ideas. The Academy of Distinguished Teachers, the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Digital Media Center are sponsoring this conference for the entire University of Minnesota system to engage us in a conversation about the research and practice of teaching.

You will hear about research on teaching and learning, have an opportunity to practice applications of research to the classroom, and to view poster presentations.

Eric Mazur of Harvard University will give the morning keynote address, “Confessions of a Converted Lecturer. His book Peer Instruction: A User's Manual (1997). Upper Saddle River, New Jersey: Prentice Hall, is available at the reserve desk of each campus library and will also be available for purchase at the conference.

At the conclusion of the conference, you are invited to attend the Distinguished Teaching Awards Ceremony and Reception, at the McNamara Alumni Center. This celebration honors the 2006-2007 recipients of the University's awards for their contributions to undergraduate, graduate, and professional education. The event begins at 3:45 p.m. and is sponsored by the Senate Committee on Educational Policy, the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, and the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.
